Instructors for the Training
Lead Trainer: Wendy Humphreys E-RYT 200 & YACEP
Hi, I am Wendy and I love teaching yoga to the people of the Willamette Valley. I love practicing yoga because it makes my life better and I know it will make your life better as well. Yoga will make you stronger, more emotionally balanced, and bring more clarity to your life. It takes patience and work to heal our bodies and souls. I received my first 200 hr. training at CorePower Yoga and then a CorePower level 2 training, my journey then led me to another 200 hr. Baptiste training giving me the tools and inspiration I need to give my students a powerful yoga practice with benefits that improve every aspect of their life. I am super excited to be currently working on my 500 hr training that has included learning from Sarah Powers, Rod Stryker and Gary Kraftsow. I teach a class for all people who want to grow and learn to live their truth and be the best version of themselves as they can possibly be. I am eager to go on this adventure with you.
Additional Trainer: Marilyn Polo 200hr Sivananda Trained
Marilyn Śambhavi Polo has been practicing yoga, mediation, and Ayurveda for 20 years. She is a certified Sivananda Yoga teacher, having completed her in-depth training at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Paradise Island, Bahamas, in 2002. Marilyn continued her intensive studies in yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, karma yoga (selfless service), yogic lifestyle, and Vedanta philosophy while living at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Ranch in Woodbourne, NY, for over 18 months. She has lived and served at various Sivananda ashrams worldwide since that time, including assisting in yoga teacher trainings in Neyyar Dam, India. Throughout her spiritual life, Marilyn has had the privilege and fortune to have trained under and alongside advanced yogis, many of whom were direct disciples to highly evolved souls. As an instructor, Marilyn’s intent is to be able to share her vast knowledge of all things yoga, Vedanta, and Ayurveda in meaningful ways to a Western audience. Helping individuals connect to their divine nature and to live their truth is at the heart of the practice that she shares. Marilyn teaches traditional Sivananda-style hatha yoga classes that have a deep, meditative approach and focus on the breath. She believes yoga should be accessible to all body types and ages.
Additional Trainer: Barry Glassman 500 hr RYS
My relationship with yoga is an important grounding contribution to my spirit walk. The teachings layer in nicely with my connection to and practice of Native American Sweat lodge and philosophies, love of our Mother Earth and wisdom of the Self = the One. Practices and concepts I enjoy bringing to the mat and classes are: pranayama, meditation, chanting, asana, meridian energy, and learnings from ancient Indian texts. Love the Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata and Upanishads just for the shear enjoyment of it; always something to learn or marvel at. Other Earthly enjoyments during the rest of life: reading, music, the out of doors, growing things (in the garden, heart & mind), cooking, any art project, carpentry, and broadening the circle of friends = family of the heart. Come practice together. Namaste.
Additional Trainer: Dr. Karlie Moore – Doctor of Exercise Science
Hi I am Dr. Karlie Moore I have a PhD in Exercise Science and Nutrition. As a doctor of Exercise Science, I’ve always exercised because I know how important it is for my health and well-being, but I never really loved it…that is, until I tried barre. The workout was a good fit for me since I’ve been a dancer my whole life…but since dance can be hard on the body, I created barre workouts that don’t include movements that put too much stress on your joints. Then I made them fast paced for more cardio, drawing on my background in group/exercise/aerobics teaching. I also wanted to incorporate some yoga because I love the flexibility and relaxation that yoga gives you, and disliked having to choose between a barre class and a yoga class. I am the creator of Splendid Barre, a barre teacher training program that prepares fitness instructors to teach high quality barre classes anywhere. I also teach Splendid Barre classes in Corvallis.
Our Very Own Valeria Pearson will be our Student Assistant for the training
